It was a hard day out on the dust. I went hunting for some deer meat and Buck antlers to score some cash. After I filled my satchel I headed back to Armadillo. I don’t know what made me ride pass Two Crows but when I did, I saw some of Walton’s boys raiding this old man’s ranch. Even before he asked for help, I was ready at the steel. There were several of them all spread out over the ranch. They had two snipers up on mesas to the left and right of me. In the middle there were 4 more spread out evenly with me at the front of all of it. I had to take the snipers out first. To add more problems to the situation at hand, these low life’s had the ranch owners daughter held up inside. I had to be quick in the hopes of saving her from this scum.
I took out the snipers with ease from behind a rock and started to work my way into the middle. These Walton boys couldn’t shoot a dead fish in a barrel. I made short work of the few men on the ground and two more came out of the ranch house. After I put some holes in their leather, I could still hear the girl screaming inside the ranch. I moved quickly and quietly. I went into the house and peered through a door that lead to a bedroom. He had her on the ground at gun point. I only had one chance to do this and right before I could get a shot off, he ended her life. I put four bullets into his gut and ran into the bedroom. The girl was gone.
I carried the body out of the ranch house and laid her down in front of her father. While he was grateful that I helped him, the sadness in his eyes at the sight of his daughters limp body was too much for me to bare. I couldn’t even look at him. I hopped on my horse and headed back to Armadillo.
On the way back I pondered my life…my reason for being. Why couldn’t I save that girl? Was I getting to slow? There had been too much bloodshed lately and I wanted it to stop. I didn’t know how long I was going to last but if I was gonna die I wanted to do it with Walton blood on my hands. I had to finish the job that I set out to do. The Waltons had to pay.
