The Last Of Us 2: Ideas Being Explored By Naughty Dog

By on

Naughty Dog, The Last of Us developers revealed that the team is now looking at ideas for a follow-up to the 2013?s critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic PlayStation 3 game.

Naughty Dog?s community strategist, Arne Meyer said that ?I think it would be a disservice to ourselves and our fans if we didn?t explore if we could continue the story.?

?I think we always make a smart decision in that all of our games are self-contained stories so they don’t have to continue if we don’t want them to or if there’s no reason for them to continue. It really comes down to is there something interesting in this universe we’ve created that we want to continue to explore? Is it something that we can get the entire team passionate about? Is it something we can get the creative directors excited about and then we could continue it?? Arne said.

?We’re just starting to explore ideas of what more could there be in this universe and starting that decision process. That doesn’t mean the end result is guaranteed.?

?

Troy Baker, the voice actor behind The Last of Us protagonist Joel, admitted that he has not been approached yet by Naughty Dog regarding to The Last of Us sequel.

?There’s nothing on the horizon right now. It’s to the credit of Neil and Bruce and everyone at Naughty Dog for creating a story and a world that is so rich and immersive that people want more of the story. That’s a really hard thing to accomplish.? Said Troy.

?To even make a game is a miracle. To have a game that can grow into something else, and not just in a franchise sense – they want to know more about the characters; they want to know more about the world; they have questions. That’s a truly remarkable thing. If we [Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson] are fortunate for them to ask us back, I gladly would.?

Furthermore, Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, who are the leading forces behind the game ? are currently working on the PS4-exclusive post-apocalyptic sequel, Uncharted 4: A Thief?s End.

And there also some rumors about Naughty Dog, working on another title beyond Uncharted 4, though we do not know at the moment as to what it might be.
