?The Flash? Season 2 Updates: ?Insurgent? Actor To Play Key Role

The Flash spices things up as the show adds a new character to the mix, with Divergent ?Insurgent? actor Keiynan Lonsdale gets to play Wally West in the new season of the hit television series.? According to Variety, the Australian actor will apparently appear as a series regular for The CW?s show next season.

As the DC universe on television keeps growing, they are slowly gathering new actors to keep the world of DC heroes fresh for new plots and twists. Variety also shared that Wally?s involvement in season two of the superhero series was announced at Comic-Con, along with the casting of two more DC Comics character such as Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), and Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten), with Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin).

DC Comics history suggests that Wally West is the nephew of Iris West, which is the eventual partner of Barry Allen (The Flash). So Keiynan Lonsdale?s character may be revised for the progress of the show. The introduction of Wally West in the new season is as important as introducing Barry Allen to his super speed. Wally West, a key role in the television series,?becomes the speedster known as Kid Flash in the comics lore, according to TVline.com. The Kid Flash is a long time partner of The speedster himself and will eventually be given the mantle of The Flash. Although details of the character is not yet disclosed, comic enthusiasts will understand that Wally West will be an important addition to the series.

?Just like when we met Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero,? Executive Producer of the casting Andrew Kreisberg says according to Hypable. ?We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show,? he adds.

For those who don?t know, Grant Gustin was known for his character Sebastian Smythe on the favorite musical comedy drama ?Glee.? Gustin started off as a supporting role for five episodes from another hit tv series, ?Arrow,? which stars Stephen Amell, currently in the midst of a twitter battle with WWE wrestler Stardust.
