An Elite Task Force member confirmed that Ubisoft is now working on The Division update 1.7 and 1.8. The new updates will be free and come in two separate patches. Ubisoft Massive listened to the fan suggestions for this patch, which fans will definitely love.
Two New Patches Incoming
According to morganamp’s thread on The Division subreddit, the ETF member confirmed in his thread that Ubisoft Massive is working on two new Year Two updates. The exact release date for these patches weren’t mentioned but they did say it’ll be free for every player. ETF members are selected from The Division’s playerbase who help Ubisoft playtest and provide the player’s side in roundtable discussions with the developers.
The ETF member didn’t say any details about The Division update 1.7 and 1.8. According to mattschotcha from the official The Division forums, three features are planned to be added in the coming updates. So far, Ubisoft Massive and ETF plan on adding these content for The Division update 1.8.
- Global Event Ideas and improvements
- World Tier and Gear Score increase
- Survival improvements
The developers are still thinking twice about increasing World Tiers and Gear Scores as the fans would definitely strongly react to it. Higher World Tiers and Gear Scores means players will have to grind and farm better equipment again to get the best stats. They’ll have to scrap their current equipment set and make new ones that’ll match the new meta brought by the increased World Tier and Gear Score.
Improvements to The Division Survival game mode might be made to capitalize on its unique gameplay. It features gameplay similar to popular survival games that are still in Early Access such as Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds and Ark: Survival of the Fittest. Ubisoft definitely has a strong chance in this market as most games in this genre are in Early Access.
Survival features a Hunger Games-like gameplay where players will scavenge and arm themselves until they find medicine for an airborne virus. Players can cooperate or oppose each other for the sake of their own survival as long as they can reach the goal.
Year Two Updates
Ubisoft has promised to release have Year Two updates and they’ll mostly be free for its players. These content aims to wrap up The Division’s story and conclude the game for good. Avid fans might be sad that the game will end but rumors about development of The Division sequel are circulating right now. For now, fans should wait for the release of The Division update 1.8 first before worrying about the game’s future.
