Latest news suggests that Blair Witch Project 3 is possible but is that a good move or should they just reboot the movie?
Looks like the year of reboots has finally begun, from kiddie shows like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to a classic horror like Poltergeist. News has it though that another classic is now being considered for a reboot, The Blair Witch Project according to cinemablend.
Recently, dreadcentral had an interview with Eduardo Sanchez, one of the director and writer of The Blair Witch Project. He said on that interview ?We have been talking to Lionsgate and there has been a little bit of movement but nothing is concrete. The film seems inevitable to me, but really it?s just a matter of it being the right time. I?m thinking it?s going to happen sooner than later at this point, but I always say that. There?s always rumblings and certain ideas being pushed around and such. While I don?t have anything firm to talk about now, it wouldn?t surprise me if something happened within the next year or two.?
What exactly is Blair Witch Project?
The Blair Witch Project, as said on their IMDB page, is a story about three film students that went to investigate the local urban legend, the Blair Witch. Sadly, the students weren?t lucky with their investigation?they went missing and never came back. The tape was found one year later and it was compiled into a movie and titled ?The Blair Witch Project?.
This movie is a bit new?to some people during that time?it is a type of genre called found footage, just like the controversial movie Cannibal Holocaust. It is a combination of both Horror and Mystery.
Should they just do a complete reboot of the movie or add a third installment?
The reception of the second installment titled Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 was a big flop if we are going to compare it to the first one, as you can see on Rotten Tomatoes. So it?s safe to say that, the best move would probably be a complete reboot of the film, since every classic horror was getting one, why shouldn?t The Blair Witch Project do the same right?
Unless if they can do something awesome and make us forget that the second film ever existed, then that could actually work.
