Which game was the hit for gamers and which console reigns from the rest, here is the report for August 2015.
The NPD Group; a marketing research agency, has released their report for the top 10 best-selling video games for August of 2015 in North America. The agency has listed the top ten selling games for the mentioned month:
- Madden NFL 16 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)
- Minecraft (360, PS3, XBO, PS4)
- Gears Of War Ultimate Ed (XBO)
- Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC)
- LEGO: Jurassic World (360, 3DS, NWU, PS3, XBO, PS4, PSV)
- Rare Replay (XBO)
- Until Dawn (PS4)
- Call Of Duty: Black Ops Combo Pack (360, PS3)
- Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4, XBO)
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC)
It is no surprise that Madden will be the top selling game for this month as more gamers are also into Football, meanwhile it is surprising that Minecraft is still getting more sales especially in the consoles, as the game has been around for years. The same goes for Grand Theft Auto V that was released on 2013 for the last gen consoles and received a port for the latest gen and to the PC last year.
As for the game consoles, Sony tops the charts as the PlayStation 4 is still the best selling gaming console in North America, as they were also the top seller last July, followed by the Xbox One. NPD also stated that hardware sales were down by just 2% from last year. Game console bundles were a hit for this month as 93 percent of the sales of game consoles came from bundled packs, compared that from last year with just 41 percent.
Despite the slight drop of sales, Microsoft reported that hardware sales were up by 26 percent while Nintendo?s 3DS system were up by more than 30 percent this year and their Amiibo figure line has sold more than 7 million.
