Telltale games has just spilled some juicy details regarding their upcoming Batman game. Members of the acclaimed studio took the stage at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas to share a little bit about the title. A summary of the panel is available on Telltale?s website. Here are some of the key pieces of information.
Telltale Games Talks Batman at SXSW
First and foremost, Telltale says that the game is coming pretty soon, with a summer 2016 release window being targeted. Expect to see more of the mature themes and cinematic storytelling approach that have become Telltale?s calling card.
According to the report, players will step into the shoes of both Bruce Wayne and Batman over the course of the narrative. ?Batman is the perfect character for the studio to explore in a Telltale series, giving the team the opportunity to dive deeper into the mind of the man behind the mask. Each night, Bruce Wayne chooses to change Gotham for the better. The team wants to explore what the consequences are of the player?s actions when decisions made as Bruce have a critical impact on his nightly crusade as Batman, and vice versa.? Says the studio. Like any Telltale game, player choice will have a huge impact on how the story progresses and what situations you will encoutnter.
The game?s cast of characters will feature many familiar names from the series roster of heroes and villains. Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya, were all confirmed during the panel. The story?s list of antagonists is being kept under lock and key until a later date. Telltale points out that this game will be an examination of Bruce Wayne/Batman, so don?t expect to see any of his sidekicks (Robin, Nightwing, etc.) in this one.
