It has been five years since Tekken X Street Fighter and Street Fighter X Tekken were both announced at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con, but the former has never gotten any concrete release details nor a single game screenshot. This has speculated rumors that the game has been canceled especially as the company is hard at work with Tekken 7.
But it looks like that we may finally be able to throw hadukens in 3D with Tekken?s spirit and gameplay as the crossover fighting game Tekken X Street Fighter isn?t cancelled as they have already finalized the character roster including the character models and their move-sets.
?It might seem like we haven?t started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago. And we?ve already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems,? Tekken Creator and Producer Katsuhiro Harada told Famitsu and translated by Siliconera.
?I?ve been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we?re at a pretty far stage into its development,? Harada said.
Harada said they are struggling to determine the best release date for Tekken X Street Fighter as the game was announced alongside Street Fighter and Tekken. Thereafter, Street Fighter V and 7 was announced last year. Because of these games already nearing release, they are unsure which game fans would like to play first.
Harada also said the same thing last year: ?It?s still in development, and it is moving forwards, but that?s on the development side? So obviously, with all of the products, there?s that special timing that we need for that to have its own spotlight. So on the marketing side, it?s a special situation, but we can say that it hasn?t been cancelled, so please relax.?
Harada has been busy working on Tekken 7,Pokemon Tournament with the Pokemon Company, and a PS4 VR Morpheus game called Summer Lesson.
If you want to play a Street Fighter and Tekken crossover game so badly, you can always play and content yourself with Street Fighter X Tekken.
