Video announcing Tekken 7 leaked hours prior to its expected EVO 2014 launch

In an odd turn out of events, a news video from IGN?, discussing the upcoming Tekken 7 had been leaked on AOL (America Online). This happened less than a day prior to the expected launch of the game during the EVO 2014 event at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

The producer behind Tekken 7, Katsuhiro Harada, indeed has an announcement planned to be released at the EVO 2014. With this leak, someone had mistakenly or maliciously burst the bubble. Moreover, this is not only a sign indicating that the game is slated to be announced; a Tekken 7 logo has also been flashed very briefly on one of the projection monitors at the said event.

Tekken 7 is based from the Tekken game franchise, a fighting game both developed and published by Namco, which was later renamed Namco Bandai Games. The original Tekken game was released in 1994; since then, numerous updates, sequels, and spin-offs had been given out by the game studio. Meanwhile, EVO 2014 or Evolution Championship Series 2014, wherein Tekken 7 is expected to be launched, is an e-sports event held annually and focuses entirely on fighting video games.

As shown on the leaked video, the Tekken creator announced that they have chosen to use Unreal Engine 4 as it can deliver quality graphics easily for next-generation gaming platforms. Here is the transcript of what he actually said on the video:

?With Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve the visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to easily bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.?

Relevant to this leaked information, Harada had ?cited in a previous statement he had?given late last year, that?“Tekken is one of my life’s works. And while I can’t say much here, together with the titles we are going to announce this year, I’m also working on several other titles simultaneously with Tekken. From there, I’d like to announce at least two of those titles in 2014, and I feel that it’s something I must do.”
