Last year, during the final run of the Nintendo DS and just before the 3DS came out, Tecmo Koei released the title Pokemon Conquest. This game was a long awaited game for fans of the Pokemon series who had also been familiar with, or had played, the popular “Warriors” series. In this game, a cross-over of sorts was presented, pitting Pokemon fighting alongside warriors such as Nobunaga Oda and Shingen Takeda, warriors whose popularity were associated with the game ‘Nobunaga’s Ambition’.

When news of the release of this game came out, there were a lot of speculations from the fan community. Art frequently came out, so it goes without saying that fans of the Warriors series and Pokemon came out in droves to buy the game once it came out. The possibility of playing a game where you partner with Pokemon is not new, but it is the fact that characters from the Nobunaga’s Ambition series that partners with them is what ?makes this game quite intriguing.

In the game, you play the role of a young warlord set to conquer the land where it’s set. You are also given an equally young Evee, who grew up with you. Oichi is your initial partner, a famous Warrior from the series because of her relation with the ‘Demon King’ Nobunaga Oda. From there on, you and Oichi embark on a quest to unite the land under your rule, setting yourself up for the ultimate battle against the Demon King himself, and his retainers.

The Excitement about a Possible ‘Conquest’ Sequel

So why is there excitement about another ‘Conquest’ title?

If you can remember, when Pokemon Conquest came out, there were still a lot that can be added to the game. Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 were under production when the game was currently being developed, so it goes without saying that the game missed out on many newly introduced Pokemon that were present in the games. That is why there is the possibility of a new game coming out possibly on the 3DS.

Another hint on the possibility of a sequel was the comment of Tecmo Koie’s Executive Vice President, Hisashi Koinuma. While it was released on the Nintendo DS, he did say that there were a lot of unfinished material for Pokemon Conquest. And with the influx of a ton of new Pokemon as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are released, the possibility even seems to be more fact than fiction.

There is a mutual relationship that works for the series as well. While Tecmo Koie reportedly has material enough for a sequel, the Pokemon Company’s CEO and president Tsunekazu Ishihara is a self-confessed fan of the Nobunaga’s Ambition series. So if plans are made for another installment of the Conquest series, expect these companies to make it happen.

The speculation is rife that there would be a sequel coming sooner, if not later. While at the moment, it remains more fiction than fact, the possibility of a new title is not that far-off. Fans of the series ought to wait with positivity for the sequel of this series.
