The wait is over for the English trailer of Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale. Additional details of the movie are now revealed, and it is slated for release in 2017.

Fans being excited are an understatement for this phenomenal light novel series of Reki Kawahara. They have been looking forward to this movie since the day it has been announced that Sword Art Online will have a movie version of the anime adaptation.

Anime News Network reports that Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale English trailer has been streamed in the official English website for SOA film which was opened by Aniplex USA. The news about this upcoming movie adaptation was first announced in Oct. 2015. The Japanese website has also released the official trailer but it can only be viewed exclusively by its region.

As explained, Sword Art Online movie is titled Ordinal Scale, which is ?the name of a game after SOA and Gun Gale Online.” The report says that the said game is using an ?AR (Augmented Reality) Type Information Terminal,? popularly known as ?Augma.?

According to Crunchyroll, the website that has been launched recently has explained the new concepts that are incorporated in the ?Ordinal Scale? film. Below is the exact description lifted from the official English website of Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale.

?A next-generation, wearable multi-device that looks like a pair of small headphones. In terms of size and portability, it is far superior to the existing VR machine ?Amusphere.? Augma doesn?t have a full-dive function, however, its AR function is greatly enhanced to compensate for it. It can transmit visual, audio and tactual sensation data to players while they are awake, thus enabling the users to enjoy fitness and health management like a game.?

It is noted that the original story is penned by none other the light novel author Reki Kawahara himself. The movie adaptation will be helmed by Tomohiko Ito, who has been directing Sword Art Online TV anime since 2013. A-1 Pictures will take care the animation production of the film. To add, the character designs are being handled by Shingo Adachi, but of course based on the original illustration and concepts of Abec. The visual designs of Kirito and Asuna have been released as well.
