Who would have thought that Windows Surface Pro 3 had a small brother? Everyone actually, but it was never really the face of discussion until now, when Microsoft?s Panos Panay laid out all the amazing details of the Surface Mini table that never really came out.
In an interview with Wired, the company?s corporate vice president in charge of devices shared how he used to keep the unreleased Surface Mini tablet beside his bed and how he would draft his emails and take down notes when he feels a surge of inspiration, according to the Verge. ?It was like a Moleskine,? Panay said, reliving the memory of a 7-inch tablet he never showed to the world. ?It was awesome.? This statement suggests that he may no longer be using the Surface Mini and that it will not be likely that we would ever see it.
Microsoft, for the betterment of their company, apparently never confirmed the Surface Mini?s existence. But according to reports, the device should have been announced together with the Surface Pro 3 in May 2014 but was never launched due to the cancellation made by CEO Satya Nadella and former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, according to the Verge.
Panay?s statement now officially reaffirms everyone knowledge about the once rumored Surface Mini tablet but at this point in time, it?s highly doubtful that the 7-inch tablet will ever launch again.
In other news, there are rumors that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 already has a release date, along with other info of some nifty upgrades compared from its predecessor. We might expect to see the Surface Pro 4 around October this year, though there is still no confirmation if the?information is accurate?as there is no official announcement from Microsoft yet.
