Supernatural Season 11 ?Baby? has wowed numerous fans with its unique cinematography in presenting warm moments between Dean and Sam. Placing cameras all over their ?baby? Impala just to showcase the importance of their car in Supernatural looks gimmicky on paper, but the show was able to uniquely a new perspective on how we see the two Winchester brothers both in dangerous and quiet moments.
The Winchester?s Impala has been through hell with all the events that happened in the story so far. Enabling viewers to see just like how the car does actually helps us appreciate the importance of this vehicle in the character?s lives.
IGN was also impressed with the show?s presentation: ?Seeing the story from the perspective of the car doesn?t seem like a concept that should work, but they sold it? The framing really forged a connection?especially during the scene with Dean and Sam having a heart to heart at night.?
This new take on presenting the story has enabled the show to present unique scenes that director would have never been able to present if they didn?t focus on the perspective of the Impala. ?We?ve never seen the boys do this stuff,? director Thomas Wright said per Screen Rant.
Wright noted that it was difficult to do this kind of cinematography in the show. ?The cars that I had to repair from that episode, five of them had to get new headliners because of the cameras ripping through the headliners. We had to put carpets in and the glass got cracked. It was a lot of work to get them back to normal.?
With a bit costly repairs for the Impala and difficulty in doing this cinematography, will we see something like this again in the future? ?That should be something we do more often. We usually have the come-to-God [moment] in the middle of this library or something? But what a cool glimpse into the Winchesters and how they travel.?
