The Summer Steam Sale 2016 has just started today, and many games had their price slashed, as event fans and savvy gamers expected. Some AAA and indie games have already dropped their price to extremely affordable rates. Here are some games that you can consider picking up.
As seen on the Steam ?Under $5? category, notable games such as Bioshock Infinite, Portal 2, Civilization 5, Payday 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and even the Mass Effect series are discounted in this year?s Summer Steam Sale. These games aren?t exactly new but are of good quality even after recent games of its genre have been released. Most Steam Sale bargain hunters may have already bought these games a long time ago, as some titles have been discounted at even lower prices in previous Steam Sales. Some were also given out for free for a limited time.
Most of these games are still over the $3 dollar value but are still good picks. If you really want a bargain AAA game, try CD Projekt Red?s Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, which costs around $2.99. Meanwhile, Valve?s Half-Life entries are also sold separately at a dirt cheap price of $1, but it?s better to opt for the Valve bundles.
Other niche games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, Outlast, and Rise of Nations have also received discounts and are available below $5. Other than just buying good games on impulse, this could also be a great time to try out good, old games that were sleeper hits and cult classics. Additionally, some of the games will have an upcoming sequel like Civilization and Outlast.
On the indie games side, good releases such as Undertale, Stardew Valley and Superhot have yet to swing below the $3 dollar mark. However, older indie games such as Terraria, Don?t Starve, Transistor, Divekick and Skullgirls have swung below the $5 dollar value. However, only Skullgirls is around the $3 mark, but you?ll need to have all its character DLCs to enjoy it extensively.
The Summer Steam Sale 2016, officially known as the Steam Summer Picnic Sale, will last until July 4, 10 AM PDT. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for heavier price drops and new discounts as Steam doesn?t display every product on sale in their Featured tab.
