The Strain Season 3 returns this August on FX and we are going to see a full-on battle between humans and the blood-sucking Strigoi. The teaser for Season 3 features New York City?s iconic Lady Liberty turned into a Strigoi and that means New York will suck blood. The Strigoi have infiltrated the city and humans are being turned into these blood-sucking monsters. Only a few will be left to fight against these vampires and the master. Will Eph, Setrakian, and the others be able to save themselves and the city?

[WARNING: SPOILERS!!]

The teaser for the upcoming season shows Lady Liberty turned into a blood-thirsty vampire, extending her long Strigoi tongue out with a growl. This means New York will be dominated by the Strigoi unless the Master will be defeated once and for all. The fate of the city and humanity now lies in the hands of Eph, Setrakian, the vampire hunters and the citizens who will band together to put a stop to this major world transformation.

The official synopsis for the third season reads: ?As season three begins, New York City is a battleground. Written off by the federal government, the people of New York City must fight for survival on their own. The question is who will win? Humans or Strigoi? Our heroes win victories, but are not winning the war. Beset by personal conflicts ? betrayal, disappointment, paranoia ? our group is splintering? Meanwhile, the Master is close to executing an irreversible transformation of the world. Is there still hope to save the city and humanity??

In the Season 2 Finale, as recapped by Design & Trend, there were two major deaths?Nora and Coco. Nora, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather?s long-time partner and love interest, committed suicide to prevent the Master from turning her into a Strigoi. Nora did not want to reveal the secrets of the bio-weapon that she and Eph had created which could be the only weapon that could put an end to the Master and the Strigoi. While Coco, Eldritch Palmer?s lover, also met her demise.

Not only did Eph lose Nora, he also lost his son, Zach, who was taken to the Master by Kelly. The only silver lining in the finale was that Setrakian was able to procure the Occido Lumen, the book which holds the secret of how to defeat the Master. With the help of other vampire-hunters Fet, Angel, Gus and Quinlan, Setrakian might finally succeed in his life?s mission to kill the Master and stop the spread of the vampire strain.

Meanwhile, two new characters will be introduced in the upcoming season, perhaps to fill the void of the two deaths in Season 2. First is a Navy SEAL team leader, Kroft (casting not yet revealed), and NYPD captain Kate Nelson, to be played by America Olivo, who will be leading a squad of combatants.

The Strain Season 3 premieres August 28, 2016, at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
