We got more details on the most anticipated Star Wars film this year straight out of Disney?s D23 event.
Some of the new details include the background of the film?s antagonist; Kylo Ren.
According to director J. J. Abrams, the film will explain more on the origins of Kylo Ren?s mask and his lightsaber. With the mask?s design having nod from the similarities of Darth Vader?s and Kylo Ren is aware of its beginnings and it will become a part of the story in The Force Awakens.
Kylo?s lightsaber was designed and crafted by himself, as explained the Abrams, “The lightsaber is something that he built himself, and is as dangerous and as fierce and as ragged as the character.” It was also noted that Kylo Ren is more of an inverse version of Luke Skywalker. Another cool fact is that the ?Ren? is more of a surname given to the members of the Knights of Ren, similar that from the ?Darth? title to the Sith lords.
Some of the reveals at D23 was the movie poster, looks like Drew Struzan, the same guy who designed the original movie posters for the special edition releases of the original trilogy as well as the prequel trilogy. It features the new characters with Han Solo at the lower portion, hinting that Han will play a major role in the film.
Disney also showcased some of the costumes that were used at the film and put it on display at D23 for fans to marvel at the character suits. Unfortunately there were no new footages or trailers that were shown at the event, leaving the fans a bit disappointed but still excited over the upcoming film.
