?Star Wars The Force Awakens? Cast & Plot: Mythbuster Special Reveals Laser Blasters To Be a Dud, Slower Than A Gun; Force Friday Costumes Show Character Backstories And More

By on

Ever wondered why storm troopers? laser blaster always?never hit their target? As Star Wars The Force Awakens nears its release in theaters this December 2015, Mythbusters have tested how fast laser blasters travel and if it really can be dodged.

Slower Than The Speed Of Light

?The bolts from the blasters in Star Wars move slower than the speed of light,? MythBusters claimed as they concluded that the film?s laser blaster only travels 130mph-135mph at a distance of 40ft. This is significantly slower compared to real guns. According to MythBusters Exhibition, the average bullet travels at 2,500 feet per second or around 1,700mph.

Mythbusters used a caliper, mathematical equations, and watched all six Star Wars movies to form their assumption. They also used visual references (such as the height of Han Solo) and the length of the travel time of the blaster bolt.

Storm Troopers Are Horrible Marksmen?

Armed with the knowledge on how fast the laser blaster travels, they replicated the setup to see if the bullets truly are avoidable.? MythBusters initially thought that the reason why the heroes from Star Wars can dodge the bullets was because of the length of time it takes the storm troopers to pull-up their gun and aim it. However, they were proven wrong:

?I can see the storm trooper holding the blaster? That action of the lifting of the gun, that might make all the difference?. Turns out, even when I can see our trooper lifting his rifle to position, its fast enough to get me every single time. There is no dodging these blaster bolts.?

While the laser blasters are nowhere as fast as regular guns, they still surely travel fast enough to hit their target. Maybe the heroes are really skilled enough to evade the blasters? Or maybe the storm troopers aren’t skilled enough to hit their mark?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Characters? Backstory Revealed

The ?Force Friday? was recently celebrated this?September 4 by Star Wars fans. Tons of merchandises were given out and some of the Star Wars The Force Awakens costumes included character profiles and backstories for Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley), iDigitalTimes reported. Here is what the costume packaging says for each character:

Finn

Finn in Star Wars 7: The Force Unleashed

“Sometimes, heroes come from the unlikeliest of places. The Galactic Empire has been dead for decades, but evil never really dies. With villains rising to take the Empire?s place, heroes must rise to oppose them. After becoming stranded by himself in the deserts of Jakku, and meeting up with a girl named Rey, a Stormtrooper named Finn has joined the side of the Resistance. He began his adventure as a part of the New Order, but now he?s one of the few people that can stop them. With a new look, Finn is ready for a new mission. Since trading in his Stormtrooper armor for a new set of gear, Finn?s outfit might not be flashy, but it?s all that a hero needs to succeed.?

Rey

Rey in Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Unleashed

“The mission to take down the First Order is underway! After invading the Starkiller Base, one member of the Resistance has split from her group and found herself in a massive room full of First Order soldiers. Completely surrounded by Stormtroopers with blasters and Knights of Ren with lightsabers, she seems to be totally outnumbered. Unfortunately for her enemies, though, they?ve made a big mistake: it?s not about the strength of the weapon, but the strength of the warrior that wields it.?

Star Wars: Episode VII ? The Force Awakens will be released in theaters on December December 18, 2015.
