Star Wars: The Force Awakens still has a long way to go before people begin seeing it in cinemas, but that doesn?t stop the movie from making the news rounds. How could it not? The movie, which includes two trilogies each set in different timelines in the fictional universe, had grown in popularity?and still continues to grow?since the first ?a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away?? phrase rolled on movie screens during the time of our parents.
Well, it?s our time now, and how things have changed.
JJ Abrams might have had felt this, because he?s certainly shaken things up. Before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, black Stormtroopers were unheard of; yet he?s cast John Boyega in the role. As it appears, as per Independent UK another shake-up in the larger Star Wars Universe is about to happen, and happen fast. Also, another news item from Independent takes a look at Peter Mayhew, who is playing Chewbacca in the movie?is he better after a bout with pneumonia?
Diversity in Star Wars Cast
JJ Abrams, as it appears, is a fan of diversity.
At least, that what it appears, as per this Independent UK report. JJ Abrams has casted Amybeth Hargreaves as a female Stormtrooper, a first in the Star Wars series. There has never been any female, let alone a black actor, who plays a Stormtrooper in the Star Wars series. This could be understandable, though. A look at the Star Wars Wikipedia says that in the days after the Empire?s strength waned, the Stormtroopers saw a shaking of the ranks and even non-Humans were allowed to join the Stormtroopers.
This could be the beginning of an exciting new time for the Star Wars cast moving on. Aside from the original cast, we could be seeing other people joining the series and making it into a certainly interesting and re-invigorated trilogy this time around.
Peter Mayhew News
Who can?t see Han Solo without Chewbacca? I know I couldn?t.
That?s what I thought when Peter Mayhew, the actor who took the character of Chewbacca and made it into his own, was said to have a bout with pneumonia. As per Independent UK, however, he was said to have been doing much better and is currently recuperating on the way to a full recovery. His wife is optimistic and has thanked the fans through Reddit and Twitter.
That certainly is good news. As with any franchise, Peter Mayhew has been a familiar part of the Star Wars series. A Star Wars movie without him but featuring the other originals would feel incomplete.
More Star Wars, Please
All the improvements and the good news must mean that Star Wars is definitely on the way to a good showing at the last month of this year. There?s a good ten months separating us from the first showing of the film. Will we be surprised with a refreshing take on a familiar movie, or will it be the same familiar formula as the other six? We?ll see as time moves on.
