Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Receives Android 4.4 KitKat Today!

The long wait is over for Sprint Galaxy Note 2 holders as Sprint and Samsung announced the rolling out of Android 4.4 KitKat update today.

The announcement was posted on the software support pages of Samsung and Sprint on Thursday, giving fans what they want after several months of anticipation.

WHAT THE UPDATE INCLUDES?

1. Android version 4.4.2, KitKat

? New Lock Screen Access
o Media Controls – full-screen album art and media controls when listening to music
o Camera Shortcut – access the Camera application right from the lock screen

? SMS App Chooser – select a default application for sending and receiving SMS text messages
? Restyled Status and Navigation Bars – status and navigation bars are translucent and can sit on top of apps, along with simplified status bar icons
? Consolidated Location Settings – location services are integrated and more detailed by new Location menu
? Expanded Emoji Icons
? Wireless Printing ? supports printing over Wi?-Fi and Bluetooth
? Prevention Information pop-up message is suppressed.

2. Samsung Knox 2.0

Software updates are available OTA (Over-the-Air). To check if you?ve got the update for your Galaxy Note 2 on Sprint, go to Settings > More > System update.

To download update OTA manually, here?s what you should do:

To check if an update is available.

1. From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > More > System Update > Update Firmware.
2. If a system update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the update.

It could be remembered that Galaxy Note 2 is among the 14 Galaxy devices that Samsung Electronics Co. confirmed to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update and that each carrier would be the one to determine its own roll-out dates for the Galaxy devices they are supporting.

Sprint is the first U.S. carrier to receive an Android 4.4 update for the Galaxy Note 2. As of today, there are no indications yet of when others will begin updating their Galaxy Note 2 models to Android 4.4 KitKat.
