Recently, Spider-Man Homecoming star Tom Holland confirmed that Peter Parker had an appearance in Iron Man 2. This reveal just confirmed a large fan theory that puts more backstory to this new Spider-Man. Here’s what we know about this reveal that could actually affect the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Young Peter Parker
Holland revealed to Huffington Post that the boy wearing the homemade Iron Man mask in Iron Man 2 is actually a young Peter Parker. He even said that he talked with Spider-Man Homecoming producer Kevin Feige before he confirmed this reveal.
“I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now,” said Holland. “It’s cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”
However, Gizmodo’s report got a follow up from Holland that this reveal could potentially be just a publicity stunt from his side. Holland’s “conversation” didn’t include an actual confirmation from the producer about this Iron Man 2 young Spider-Man easter egg.
“It’s funny, I literally had a conversation with Kevin like 20 minutes before [The Huffington Post] interview and he didn’t confirm it,” Holland said. “I took it upon myself just because I thought it would be a good story and it’s exploded.”
For now, Holland’s confirmation could mean nothing and simply heavily mislead fans. If ever Marvel confirms this idea as canon in the MCU, it could potentially explain why Marvel chose to pair up Iron Man and Spidey in Captain America Civil War and Spider-Man Homecoming
Iron Man and Spider Man
As seen in the Spider-Man Homecoming trailers, Tony Stark is mentoring Spider-Man. In the film, Stark treats him as an inexperienced young hero. More than the Iron Man 2 reveal, we might see more character progression between these two characters as Spider-Man did come out of nowhere in Avengers Civil War.
