One of the biggest stars of E3 last year was a trailer for a new Spider-Man game to come to the PlayStation 4. That same game was one of this year’s show stealers again but this time, we got to see a gameplay trailer for the upcoming title. We’ve already seen how the Spider-Man PS4 game would be like but there’s so much more to uncover.

Spider-Man is one of the most used popular hero in video games and the upcoming Spider-Man PS4 title definitely isn’t the first game based on the web-crawler. The developer of the upcoming title has the chance to create an amazing game if they learn a few things from the past games.

In many of the past games, Peter Parker had access to an array of costumes. Even in the PlayStation 1 entries, players can collect several costumes including Blacksuit Spider-Man, Bagman and Spider-Man 2099. Some even allowed gamers to play as Peter Parker himself.

Insomniac Games has already confirmed alternate outfits for Spidey on Twitter, but the developers could definitely do much more than that. To make each outfit feel worthwhile to use, Insomniac Games could also add in special abilities for the costumes. A Superior Spider-Man costume for example, could make use of the claws the costume has.

A Sprawling Manhattan

To date, one of the best Spider-Man game ever made was the video game adaptation of Spider-Man 2. The game’s console versions were praised by various critics and the title was lauded as a true Spider-Man experience.

The open world for the upcoming title is confirmed to be huge. According to the developers, it will be 4 to 6 times bigger than Sunset Overdrive, which was Insomniac Games’ previous open world game. However, it’s not enough for the open world to be huge as the developer should also consider making it more dynamic and alive.

Having plenty of side quests and events all over the open world are already a given but fans may be looking for something more. Insomniac Games has the opportunity to add in groundbreaking features to the world such as having villains and other Marvel characters roam freely in the world.

A Huge Cast

Spider-Man isn’t short on friends and enemies. Many Spider-Man games have a star-studded cast of characters from the franchise and many are expecting the next game to do the same.

Ultimate Spider-Man, for example, included the likes of Spider-Man villains such as Shocker, Electro, and Venom. The developer was even kind enough to introduce Marvel characters such as Wolverine and The Human Torch to the game. The developer of the PS4 game could use the popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and add in some heroes from the films.
