Marvel fans have long clamored for Spider-Man to be included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and they have now been blessed with Spidey joining Captain America: Civil War next year. Apparently, Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield also believed that the MCU was the best fit for Spidey.
In an interview with Uproxx, Garfield said he was now happy that he can watch Spidey join the Avengers as he petitioned for Sony to team up with Marvel long ago. Garfield said he has been ?petitioning to hook up with Marvel since the beginning??
When Garfield was asked if he talked to Marvel about reprising his role for the MCU, he said he didn?t try: ?No. To be honest, all the ins and outs of what happened is a more tender conversation that maybe I don?t want to talk about in public in a press situation,? Garfield said.
Do you think Garfield would have been casted as the web-head if he engaged with Marvel?
Young Tom Holland Is The Best Fit for MCU?s Web-Crawler?
According to Comicbook, MCU Spider-Man standalone movie director Jon Watts believes that Tom Holland, a 19-year-old kid who was highly praised for his role in The Impossible, is the best actor to take on the role of Peter Parker as a high school student.
?It feels like he?s the right age, he has the right level of enthusiasm and a little bit of confidence, but a lot of insecurity mixed into that? On top of nailing the character, he can also do a standing backflip,? Watts said.
Garfield also believes that Holland is the best actor to fill-in the role as Spider-Man, Moviepilot reported.
?He was in this movie ?The Impossible? and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And (he?s) a dancer, so his body?s the right (form),? Garfield said.
Captain America: Civil War still has a long time before the film hits theaters this May 6, 2016. Despite this, numerous rumors have already released saying Spider-Man not merely appear as a cameo. Rumors surfaced that he will have a huge fight scene with Captain America and we may also get a glimpse of Aunt May. The web-crawler may also wear a total of two outfits in the film and he may fulfill his role in the comics where he switched allegiances at the latter events of the war.
