When Sony?s rumored 2015 flagship, the Xperia Z4, became a no-show at the CES event earlier this month, we thought that MWC is the next venue where the Japanese device maker will finally unveil their next killer smartphone.
MWC 2015 will take place on March at Barcelona, Spain and new reports suggest that Sony may already be preparing for the big reveal. This time, it appears that the unannounced Xperia device will come with a dual SIM variant.
Leaked FCC documents
Eagle-eyed folks from XperiaBlog.net have recently spotted an FCC listing that indicates a new Sony handset believed to be the Xperia Z4. The FCC or Federal Communications Commission is a government agency responsible for regulating and issuing certifications for all form of communication in the United States.
The FCC ID Label (see below) clearly shows a model with type number PY7-PM0851. The documents disclose that this model will come with dual SIM support. The most recent phone from Sony that sports this feature is the Sony Xperia Z3 Dual.
Dual SIM support
Aside from this newly released FCC document, a previously leaked FCC listing highlighted another alleged Xperia Z4 model with type number PM-0850-BV. The declaration letter within this new FCC listing mentioned that both models will have the same same specification, the only difference is that PY7-PM0851 will have two SIM card sockets. Here is the text from the letter:
?ID: PY7-PM0850 and PY7-PM0851 contain the same PCB, layout, display, I/O digital IC, and battery spec, and confines in the same enclosure. These two ID employs the equivalently identical chipset, circuit layout, antenna of WLAN a/b/g/n and Bluetooth, with the same default setting of transmitted output power level, and same software/firmware controlling radio parameters. The difference between PY7-PM0850 / PY7-PM0851 is PY7-PM0850 support with single SIM and PY7-PM0851 supports with dual SIM only hardware difference is the SIM socket, others are all the same.?
