Sony Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi Model Now Receiving Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat After Xperia ZR

Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi model is out and seeding via Sony PC Companion and Sony Bridge for MAC. Users will now get the same firmware build 10.5.A.0.230 running on other Xperia Z series such as Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z LTE.

Android 4.4.2 for Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi

Users of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi model can now download the latest and official Android 4.4.2 KitKat from Sony Mobile using the Sony PC Companion installed on Windows PC, Sony Bridge for MAC or even the Update Centre on the tablet.

After the update, users will receive the new firmware build 10.5.A.0.230 which is also the same one found on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat running on other Xperia Z devices such as Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z LTE.

It is currently seeding live in selected regions and network carriers such as in France and UK via O2.

Since the rollout is new, users must patiently wait till the firmware seeds on other areas due to gradual release of the software update. In addition, updates may also depend on your network carrier.

Next Batch of Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Sony Mobile may now proceed on polishing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware for the next batch of Xperia devices. As noted in their official blog post, Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2 and Xperia E1 are next on receiving Google?s latest Android version which may be released on July 2014.

In addition to the latest features found on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Sony will include additional changes and support such as new user interface and boot animation from PlayStation 4, better cloud service integration with Sony Entertainment and compatibility with Sony SmartWear Experience such as SmartBand and Lifelog app.

All of these features are already available for any Sony Xperia device running Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
