Flickering Screen Complaint

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.A.0.266 firmware build for Sony Xperia SP was released recently and it has been designed to fix various major bugs on the smartphone such as app crash, unusual light up of the illumination notifications bar during call and battery issues.

However, some users who updated their Sony Xperia SP to Android 4.3 with build versions 12.1.A.0.266 and 12.1.A.1.201 reported flickering screen issue. Flickering screen bug was not found on the previous Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware of the smartphone and seems to affect selected number of units running Android 4.3.

According to XperiaBlog, flickering screen is possibly related to the kernel as some users using different custom ROMs also reported the same problem. Custom ROM developers may have used the same kernel by Sony Mobile on Android 4.3 for custom firmware development.

Flickering screen can be quite distracting at times since it affects the backlight display of Xperia SP which will interrupt enjoyable experience when reading contents or viewing media files.
