The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of leaks for a number of upcoming tech gadgets. Most of those gadgets are said to be equipped with the latest Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 835. Now, a new benchmark result somehow found its way on the Internet and it shows a lot of promising performance improvements.
Phone Arena reported that a series of benchmark results for the upcoming Snapdragon 835 are circulating the Internet. And from the looks of it, the new processor just aced its predecessor by a considerable amount.
From the leaked Geekbench results, the Snapdragon 835 scored 2004 on the single-core processing. Meanwhile, the multi-core processing showed an impressive 6233 points. Both scores were achieve while running at 1.9 GHz.
What is more interesting about the leak is the model ID of the processor used. The benchmark result says that the processor is an MSM8998. This model number is the same number used by Samsung on its version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835. Furthermore, since Qualcomm is using Samsung to manufacture it’s latest ARM processor, there is a strong likelihood that the device tested is a Samsung Galaxy S8.
It has long been rumored that the upcoming flagship from Samsung will sport a Snapdragon 835 chip. This Geekbench result could be the standard Galaxy S8 that people have been hyping about for months now. The results also showed that the device under test is running with an Android operating system on a 4GB RAM.
Unfortunately, there is no way to verify the validity of these benchmark results. As anyone would know by now, these things can be easily manipulated by digital means. Also, unless the results came from the actual manufacturer, which is next to impossible, nobody can verify these numbers.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to get unveiled sometime in April this year. Samsung has already announced that it will not launch the new smartphone during this year’s Mobile World Congress in Spain. Instead, it will devote its efforts in the unveiling of the newest product for the tablet market, the Galaxy Tab S3.
Whether or not these leaks actually pertain to the Snapdragon 835 and Samsung Galaxy S8, no one can know for sure. However, it will not be long before fans of the phone and the chip can actually glimpse the two devices together.
