We first reported about Activisions? latest entry in the Skylanders franchise here. Activision has just recently announced that the latest update to Skylanders Trap Team game that will be coming this fall is that it will be including a fan selected hero that can be voted on through the popular snack food maker, Frito-Lay.
Frito-Lay has unveiled the names as well as the background stories of the three new Skylanders characters that have made it through and have been selected for the final round of voting. The characters were first showcased in February and players were then tasked to create and submit their own version of the character?s personality and powers. There were about 20,000 submissions to go through and a panel of judges, consisting of Frito-Lay and Activision executives, were tasked to pick one description for each new character.
The top three submissions are as follows:
- Bat Spin (submitted by Kimberly Josey from Charlotte, N.C.), a witch?that must save the underworld from trolls to prove herself as a Skylanders hero.
- Flip Wreck (submitted by Noel Foster from Clearwater, Fla.), a?half-dolphin, half-shipwreck creature.
- High Five (submitted by Phylicia Nakamoto from Elk Grove, Calif.), the fifth son of the house of Royal High Flying Dragonflies who can fly higher than any dragonfly.
The winning applicant who submitted their description will not only get the privilege of seeing their chosen character in the game, but will also be receiving a massive $100,000 scholarship. The selected character should appear in the game when it gets released on October 5 later in the year.
Voting is currently on-going and will end on June 13. For players who are interested to vote, you can head on over to the Frito-Lay website to vote for the favorite Skylander character that you want to see included. The website reads: ?A New Hero is Waiting to Join the Skylanders. Vote now and allow destiny to take its course.? You will need to register first before you can vote. The game will be launched for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, Wii U, the Xbox 360, and the Xbox One.
