Sherlock Season 4 is something which fans of the hit show have been looking forward to. While shooting for the fourth season has already began, fans could certainly face the possibility that it may be the last one for the hit show.
Sherlock has received amazing success not only in the United Kingdom but also abroad. The BBC crime drama which is based on the Sherlock Holmes novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has launched the careers of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Both have since become major movie stars, appearing in such films as The Hobbit and Star Trek.
The success of both Cumberbatch and Freeman though could backfire for the series as it could result in Season 4 possibly becoming the final season for the show. IGN reports that series creator Steve Moffat was ?amazed? that BBC executives was able to strike a deal with the show?s main actors. When asked in an interview with The Telegraph if Season 4 may be the final season he replied ?it absolutely could be.?
With more and more Hollywood projects for Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, finding a schedule for the two that could fit with shooting another season of the show may be extremely tough. Cumberbatch is set to star as Doctor Strange in the movie of the same name releasing this year which could certainly become a franchise depending on the film?s success. Freeman also has several Hollywood films in the works.
While both actors certainly want to continue filming Sherlock, it remains to be seen if they will be able to do so beyond the show?s fourth season. Until then, fans will surely keep their fingers crossed and hope that BBC will find a way to get Cumberbatch and Freeman together for a possible Sherlock Season 5.
