A seemingly endless and arduous break awaits fans from every corner of the globe as Sherlock season 4?will be regretfully delayed until 2017. In a recent report by Christian Post, the fourth season of ?Sherlock? is expected to begin filming early into 2016, but has been slated for a release date in 2017.
So for ?Sherlock? fans who have the slightest idea on what to do while waiting for the fourth season, writer Steven Moffat have something unusual in store for everyone. Before season 4 of ?Sherlock? returns, the TV show will air a special episode that will take Sherlock and John Watson to the alluring Victorian era, at the time where the great Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the adventures of the detective and his right hand man, according to Christian Today.
?We?ve got, I think you can safely say, the Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson of a generation ? we want to see them do it in the proper outfits, just once,? co-showrunner Steven Moffate shared, according to CrossMap. ?That makes them the only two who?ve done both [period and contemporary] ? apart from [Basil] Rathbone and [Nigel] Bruce, who we venerate, of course.?
?The special is its own thing,? Moffat said. ?We wouldn?t have done the story we?re doing, and the way we?re doing it, if we didn?t have this special. It?s not part of the run of three episodes. So we had to do it ? as we could hardly conceal ? as Victorian.?
Moffat also stated about Mark Gatiss and he really wanted to do it but had to be special in its own way. ?It had to be separate entity on its own. It?s kind of in its own little bubble,? he added.
Keeping an open mind about the release date of Sherlock season 4 might help in releasing some tension. Hopefully they?ll have a change of heart and bring it to an earlier date.
