Shannen Doherty Now: What Happened After 90210?

By on

Shannen Doherty has opened to the public about her current battle with cancer. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Doherty recalls her most popular character, Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210, when she discovered a breast lump and has to undergo biopsy. Brenda?s results were negative though, but unfortunately for Doherty, she is not in the clear yet.

In Doherty?s exclusive interview with People, she laments on Brenda?s ordeal, ?Back then I was a kid, man, I thought that I was invincible. I thought I was going to live forever.?

Doherty discovered she had breast cancer in February 2015. The disease has spread to her lymph nodes. According to reports, the actress has received three out of eight chemotherapy sessions, after which she plans to begin radiation treatments.

Documented head shaving

A few days ago, Doherty took her fans through the next steps to her treatment?shaving her head. She captioned her Instagram post with #Cancersucks and #thankgodforfriends. Mom Rosa Elizabeth and friend Anne Kortright-Shilstat were right by her side as she documented each step of the shaving ritual.

Doherty was forced to reveal her illness after documents were discovered by TMZ about a lawsuit that the actress is filing against her former business manager. According to the website, Doherty claims Tanner, Mainstain, Glynn & Johnson took 5% of her earnings in return for managing her finances, including payment of medical insurance. The firm allegedly ignored an invoice for payment of the premium in 2014, leading to its cancellation and inability to re-enroll until 2015. According to the lawsuit, she ?discovered that she had invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node, and was informed that her cancer had spread during 2014 (while she was uninsured).?

Doherty is best known for her role as Brenda Walsh, a typical 90s mean girl. But she lasted only 4 seasons in the show due to conflicts on the set. She played the eldest witch, Prue Halliwell in the WB network?s sci-fi drama, Charmed, alongside Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano. She left the show in bad terms once again, reportedly due to conflicts with her co-star.
