Serena Williams Olympics Live Stream, Replay: ?It?s Over Now,? Williams Exits Rio Olympics

By on

It was a shocking defeat for Serena Williams as she exits from the Rio Olympics on Tuesday. This could be one of the toughest fiascos in her career. It only proved that all bizarre things can happen in tennis. However, the reigning gold medalist could not help but express her disappointment.

Williams has committed spraying errors and piled up some double-faults losing 6-4, 6-3. She was beaten by Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the women?s singles Round of 16. Her last seventy two minutes in court with Svitolina brought her not that much luck.

Aside from the singles division, Williams and her sister, Venus, were also out of the doubles draw. The duo has lost their chance in the first round.

Following her match, Williams did not show up in her news conference. Instead, she sent a statement through a spokesperson of Team USA.

In the statement, Williams said that she is apparently disappointed. However, she did not fail to recognize that the better player has won. ?Although it did not work out the way she wanted to, Williams was grateful that she had made it to the Rio Olympics. She said it is a really good opportunity. ?It?s one her goals.

It looks like what makes it really tough is due to the fact that it?s the first time Williams gets nothing from the Olympics. For four years she would always obtain gold from the singles and doubles in London.

In June, Williams had beaten Svitolina with 6-1 6-1 at the French Open. However, it looks like luck is on Svitolina’s side this time. She currently ranks 20th in the world.

Williams also recently rebounded to obtain her 22nd career Grand Slam at Wimbledon.

In her statement, Williams added that she can?t wait for a rematch. She said she is looking forward for the next chance and believes that it will really be a good match.
