Don?t want to share certain posts with everyone? Feel like you?re sharing too much information? Worried about your and your children?s security? Turn off your Facebook account?s location settings and be more discreet about your personal information.
TURNING OFF LOCATION SETTINGS FROM THE FACEBOOK APP:
The best and simplest way to turn off location settings is to go into your phone?s privacy settings and turn off the location services. The location services use GPS and Wi-Fi to find out your exact location. Isn?t that creepy? Someone can actually find you on the exact coffee shop, exact street and exact city where you are! By turning this setting off, you are not giving Facebook permission to access your location.
However, be sure to turn off only this setting for your Facebook app rather than your whole device if you still plan to use it for location-specific apps like Google Maps or Find my iPhone.
When you post a status update or a post using your Facebook app, you will see your current city at the bottom left of the field. Simply tap the ?x? next to the current city to remove it. This will also automatically stop Facebook from constantly including your current city or location in your subsequent posts.
TURNING OFF LOCATION SETTINGS FROM A COMPUTER:
It?s basically the same as turning off settings from your mobile app. Facebook automatically suggests a location every time you update your status. Hit on the ?x? to delete your location.
Some apps and games on your account also access your location information. To personalize your settings, click on the cog button in the upper right corner of the Facebook page and select Account Settings. From there, click Apps and look for the setting Apps Others Use and click Edit Settings. Finally, uncheck the box next to My Status Updates and your location information is no longer accessible.
Being careful on the internet is always a must. Turn off your location settings to prevent stalkers from locating you, your family and friends. Not sharing too much personal information on social media must be practiced by all users.
