Sea of Thieves doesn?t have a specific release date yet, but it seems that we are getting closer to a release announcement. Game developer Rare will join fans at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 (SDCC), and it will offer some exclusive gifts at the event which is scheduled on Thursday, July 21. According to a recent announcement by the developer, the studio will host the event Art of Adventure on the said date at 10:30 am.
On the game?s official Twitter account, developer Rare shared an image suggesting that the company will be attending SDCC 2016 and that it will host an hour-long session for Sea of Thieves. The game is set for a 2017 release and will be published by Microsoft Studios.
The company has already confirmed that the game will be available under Xbox Play Anywhere. Regarding the gameplay, Rare and Microsoft have revealed that the game will feature upgradable ships. Each player will have their own customizable ship. According to the developer, players will be able to upgrade and customize them.
Having customizable ships brings a lot of duties and responsibilities to players. According to the developer, each ship will have multiple roles on it. It means that a single pirate would not be enough to handle a ship, and more people will be required to handle such roles. The multiplayer experience will certainly bring more excitement here as the players can bring their friends on board and assign tasks to conquer in ship battles. Voice chat will also add more fun to co-op play.
As mentioned, there?s no official detail available yet about the game?s release, but we?re hoping for a Sea of Thieves release date announcement at the upcoming SDCC 2016.
