Scarlett Johansson is making history as the Avengers star has reportedly become the highest grossing actress in Hollywood, officially earning more money at the box office than her female counterparts.
With her roles in Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book, Scarlett Johansson has already raked in $3.3 billion at the U.S. box office, making her the 10th highest earning actor according to the box office reporting website, Box Office Mojo.
Not only is Scarlett Johansson the only female in the top 10 of the prestigious list, it should be also be noted that she’s the youngest actor named. The 31-year-old actress is the youngest amongst the heavyweights like Harrison Ford, Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr., Eddie Murphy, Tom Cruise, Michael Caine and Johnny Depp.
While her biggest hits have been roles within the Marvel Cinematic Universe including Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Winter Soldier, she also steered action thriller Lucy to success in 2014. Scarlett Johansson?s upcoming films include a voice role in animated comedy Sing, more action in anime adaptation Ghost in the Shell and comedy Rock That Body. She?s also set to star in her own standalone Black Widow film for Marvel as well as a biopic of Zelda Fitzgerald. Scarlett Johansson is also set to appear in two Avengers: Infinity Wars movies, due out in 2018 and 2019, so she could potentially move up a few more notches on the list.
The second highest grossing female on the list is none other than Cameron Diaz, who comes in at 19, while Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Banks, Emma Watson and Anne Hathaway (who are numbers 26, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 50, respectively) are other females in the top 50.
By comparison, Jennifer Lawrence appears much lower on the list. The 25-year-old Oscar winner ranks No. 55, though she presumably has plenty of time to keep amassing major box office credits in hits like her recent ?X-Men: Apocalypse.?
