Everyday, it seems like phones are just getting bigger and bigger. The fight of the better smartphone has taken it to screen size level, especially on premium brands. Some even have screens bigger than 5.5 inches. But while the screen real estate may sound great to many, there still are many similar phones with the same features. Two of them stand out: the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8. While having a larger than 5.5-in screen, these phones boast of a unique aspect ratio.

Screen design and aspect ratio

Both the phones have superb AMOLED display panels. Furthermore, they pretty much have the same aspect ratio, albeit the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a teensy-bit taller. However, the one thing that makes the Galaxy S8 stand above the G6 is the curves display. The look and feel of the dual-curved display is quite stunning and right now, curved displays are the new normal.

The Galaxy S8 and G6 are both Android phones running the latest version of Android Nougat. However, if one would look closer, these two are pretty much apart when it comes to performance. The LG G6 still sports the older Snapdragon 821 chip while the Galaxy S8 has the more superior Snapdragon 835.

Of course, it is quite obvious that performance-wise, the Galaxy S8 wins as it features a much better SoC inside. In terms of memory and storage, both phones have the same configuration; 4GB RAM and 64GB of flash storage. However, the LG G6 has a smaller storage option which is good if what you are after is just the phone and you do not keep a lot of files with you.

On the flip side, what the Galaxy S8 does not have is a dual-camera setup at the back. The S8 only has a 12-megapixel sensor on the rear of the phone. Meanwhile, the G6 has two 13-megapixel sensors at the back.

Price-wise, the LG G6 wins the round. Granted, the phone is not exactly up-to-par with the Galaxy S8’s performance but for those on a tight budget, the G6 is your best bet. Price for the G6 starts at $650 and the version with a bigger storage is at $720. On the other hand, the Galaxy S8 will be priced where the G6 tails off. The smaller Galaxy S8 will retail for $720 while its bigger sibling is at $840.

Choosing which phone to get is always a hard decision for anyone. Budget-wise, one can go for the LG G6. However, if sheer power is what you are looking for, then the Galaxy S8 is the one for you. For more tech updates, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
