It seems like the closer Samsung Galaxy S8 gets to its launch date, more and more information about the phone surface on the Internet. A few days ago, there were multiple reports that the phone will indeed feature facial recognition. In addition to this, the feature will be used in conjunction with Samsung’s very own mobile payment system. Now a new leak claims that the Galaxy S8+ and S8’s price will be way above premium, but still below what Apple might be asking for the iPhone 8.
According to a Weibo post, a leakster who goes by the handle Ice Universe, the Galaxy S8 will be sold for 5,970 Yuan or $765. On the other hand, its bigger brother, the Galaxy S8+ will be priced at 6,700 Yuan or $970. As anyone can see, the new phone’s prices are a bit higher than the previous premium smartphone from Samsung. The now defunct Galaxy Note 7 was priced at $850 during its launch.
Another thing worth mentioning about the pricing is the fact that even the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ will be priced much lower than the iPhone 8. To those who are unaware, there have been a lot of talks about the supposed pricing for the iPhone 8. Many experts believe that Apple will be pricing the said phone somewhere north of $1,000 due to the value-added features that Apple is putting in it. In addition to the features, the OLED display also played a big role in determining the final price of the phone.
While this may sound like proper good news especially for Samsung fans, it seems like Samsung is not yet done making the phone better. There are rumors that the phone maker is pushing for facial recognition to be the main highlight feature of the Galaxy S8; in addition to the curved display. On the other hand, the iPhone 8 is also rumored to include 3D facial recognition feature along with other AR apps.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be officially launched on the 29th of March. Rumor has it that pre-order could start as early as the 7th of April while the official release date is set for April 21. For more updates on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
