Galaxy S8 pre-order date starts April 10

Later this month, Samsung will officially launch its next generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8. The phone, which missed this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017), will be unveiled to the public on March 29. The “Unpacked” event will be held in New York. In addition to this, another report now seems to indicate that pre-order dates would follow just a few days after the launch.

According to The Korea Herald, the Galaxy S8 pre-order date could start as early as April 10. This date is barely two weeks after the official launch of the phone. Furthermore, the report also mentioned that the official release could be the week commencing April 21.

Samsung is expecting to sell quite a number of Galaxy S8 this year. According to reports, the company intends to produce more than 10 million units just for 2017. However, this number could be divided between the standard Galaxy S8 and the S8+.

The sales of previous Galaxy phones from Samsung picked up quite well during their respective pre-order dates. The Galaxy S7 had about 200,000 orders, while around 400,000 units of the now defunct Note 7 were sold during the pre-order period.

According to rumors, the Galaxy S8 will come in two variants. The first one, as mentioned, will be the standard Galaxy S8. It will have a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display panel that occupies the entire face of the phone. Meanwhile, the bigger-sized Galaxy S8+ will have a massive 6.2-inch display.

Both smartphones will run on Samsung’s Exynos 8895 SoC. However, units that will be sold in North America will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 in them. The storage options are between 64GB and 128GB, while the RAM could be 4GB or 6GB.

Samsung also decided to reduce the battery capacity on the Galaxy S8. The 3,000 mAh lithium-ion battery is a bit smaller than the previous Galaxy Note7. Samsung made the decision in line with the recent issue it had with the Galaxy Note 7 where a number of units caught fire, leading to the eventual discontinuation of the phone.

Unfortunately, there are no means of verifying claims of the possible pre-order dates as well as official release. For more updates on the Samsung Galaxy S8, be sure to check out TheBitbag.
