Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge Release Cancelled Maybe Because Of Galaxy S8 Plus

By on

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the next big flagship smartphone for the South Korean electronics giant. Samsung usually releases a regular version and a larger “Edge” version of the Galaxy S series. Things may not be the same with the next release though as it is possible that the Galaxy S8 Edge release could be cancelled. This is due to the rumored launch of the Galaxy S8 Plus.

Samsung had a successful hold on the phablet market with its Galaxy Note product line. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has caused consumers to lose faith in the Note smartphone series.

With Samsung trying to bounce back next year, it appears they plan to launch a new phablet to fill the void left behind by the Galaxy Note 7.

Galaxy S8 Plus
According to BGR, there are rumors that the upcoming Galaxy S8 is going to have a “Plus” version. This means that there is going to be a phablet-like smartphone that is set to be launched next year.

With the Galaxy S8 Plus rumored to be releasing, it is possible that the Galaxy S8 Edge could be scrapped altogether. The BGR report also does not make mention of an “Edge” version of the Galaxy S8.

Galaxy S8 Edge Release Cancelled?

It is completely possible that the Galaxy S8 Edge could have a curved display as well. This would certainly make the Galaxy S8 Edge redundant which could cause it to be cancelled.

The Galaxy S8 Plus is said to have a whopping 6-inch display which certainly makes it similar to the Galaxy Note product line. What’s more, Samsung may be planning on adding the Galaxy Note’s S Pen as an optional accessory for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.

This is definitely exciting news for those looking forward to the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. If the early rumors are true, the Galaxy S8 Plus could give the Apple iPhone 7 Plus a serious run for its money.
