As previously advertised by Samsung in its YouTube video, the Galaxy S7 was being used while under downpour, clearly revealing its water-resistant feature. However, a test from SquareTrade Labs revealed that both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge – tested under a Deep Water DunkBot – revealed that it survived for 30 minutes in five feet of water, but the audio was ?left permanent muffled and distorted as a result,? according to ComputerWorld.
SquareTrade, who reportedly sells smartphone warranty plans, posted the video in YouTube. The company were also able to test the flagship smartphone in its DropBot, BendBot and TumbleBot.
Results have indicated that Samsung offers, which claimed that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge has water resistance up to five feet, less than the supposed statement and is only three feet water-resistant, ComputerWorld reported.
Verizon, on the other hand, claimed that the devices were water-resistant up to 5 feet under 30 minutes. However, according to CNet, Samsung stated that both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are only water-resistant to just 1 meter for 30 minutes in its official launch page.
As to the difference between the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge when pitted against the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, Samsung has the upper hand when plunging in the water. However, Apple was supposedly tougher as it was able to survive the TumbleBot, DropBot, and BendBot.
