Samsung is expected to release a new smartphone under their Galaxy line, and it?s going to be a flip phone! If rumors about the gadget are to be believed, the next line of phone has the premium specifications similar to the Galaxy S6.
The latest images that have been leaked to Sammobile seem to confirm that Samsung Electronics is indeed developing with a premium flip phone like its flagship Galaxy S6. The clam shell model by Samsung will have a metallic design of S6 and feature two touchscreens on the either sides of top half of the body.
The phone that has been named as SM-W2016 according to the The Guardian will feature two 3.9? inch Super AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. The metal body phone will feature a standard numeric keyboard in the bottom half of clamshell like the usual flip phones and two touchscreens on the top half. The other hardware specifications of the phone include a 64 bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor along with a 3GB RAM. The phone will include 16 mega pixel primary camera and a 5 megapixel secondary camera. The phone will running on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system platform and?come with 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage.
There seems to be a lot of demand for such phones in South Eastern Asia with over 10.6 million similar flip phones shipped to Japan alone according to Realty Today. Samsung plans to take over the market that is largely catered to by LG its regional rival who hasn?t stopped manufacturing the clamshell models. The flip phones rather have their unique appeal to certain customers it seems.
Also in line is the Samsung?s Galaxy S7 series which are slated to release in early 2016. Galaxy S7 will come in two variants one powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and the other by Samsung?s own Exynos 8890 chipset. The S7 will feature a 20 megapixel camera and TechnoBuffalo reveals?the new BRITECELL technology that Samsung?unveiled at Electronic Investor?s Forum will likely be included in S7.
Samsung seems to be quite ahead in the smart phone market with two new phones lined up. However the question remains when these devices will see that light of the day but certainly not this year though.
