Samsung Declared iOS Compatibility for its Wearables

Samsung wearables have a closed ecosystem that supports limited applications. At this year’s CES, the company announced that the upcoming Samsung wearables would now be compatible with iOS. This major update will allow iPhone and other fitness bands user to use Samsung devices.

The Korean company disclosed that its wearables will now have an iOS compatibility for the Gear S3, the Gear S2, and Gear Fit2. The company stated it was looking to adopt the best way for greater access to its cutting edge wearable technology. And with iOS support, it seems like the company has achieved the desired result.

iOS Compatibility for Samsung Wearables

Indeed, Samsung allegedly suffered great losses due to the major recall of Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Samsung’s flagship device started to catch fire due to a major battery problem. However, on the other hand, Samsung wearable is receiving good response from the consumers. The device is giving cut throat competition in the wearable markets.

The company decided to reach a larger number of users by unlocking the iOS compatibility in its devices. At the CES 2017, Samsung’s EVP of Global Marketing and Mobile, Younghee Lee stated that

“We’re constantly looking for ways to enhance our offerings and we do this in part by listening to what our customers want – and that include greater access to our cutting-edge wearable technologies with iOS support. By offering Android and iOS compatibility with our latest Gear devices, we’re giving users more ways to optimize their wearable experiences and connect to Samsung’s Galaxy of possibilities.”

Samsung wearables are giving cut throat competition to other wearable devices and health bands. The company decided to upgrade their devices with iOS compatibility in order to capture wider horizons of the market. Along with Smartwatches, the company even decided to open up iOS compatibility for its SmartTVs, and many other Android devices.
