Samsung 11k Mobile Display Will Be A Formidable Feature To Beat

How happy are you with the razor sharp screen display of your flagship phone? The quality of the recently released Samsung Galaxy S6 proved that the Korean producer is still relevant in the market. But they didn?t seem to be contented and will obliterate the competition specs wise as they are making their phone almost 5 times better than the flagship phones available today. Samsung drives full speed to release in 2018 the world?s first 11k mobile phone display with a display so good that it mirrors a 3D-effect without the need for 3D glasses.

The Samsung phone will parade a whopping 2250 pixels per inch (ppi), according to Korea?s Electronic Times. This phone will literally shove the image in your face as the screen colors are so vivid that it is able to project the effect of 3D.

To put things into perspective, the Samsung Galaxy S6 only has a 577 ppi, LG G4 has ppi, and the iPhone 6 Plus with a mere 401 ppi.

?Although some might think that 11k [is an]?over specification? that consumers do not need, this can work as a basis for Korean display industry to take another leap if related materials and parts improve through thism,? Samsung Display?s Base Technology Department Executive Director Chu Hey Yong said.

Yong said they have started development since June of this year and have partnered with 13 domestic and foreign companies including the South Korean Government. To help make the project possible, the South Korean government will be investing $26.5-million for the project in over five years.

Yong said they are targeting to release a prototype by 2018 to coincide with the Winter Olympics held in their country in PyeongChang. ?We are hoping that we are able to show such technologies at PyeongChang Olympics if there is progress,? said Chu Hye Yong.

With Samsung so focused on bringing out the world?s first 11k phone, we hope that the phone?s cost wouldn?t be high (although we doubt it) and other features of the phone wouldn?t be compromised, especially battery life.
