We won’t be getting any new Jamie and Claire moments until Outlander Season 3 this fall but Caitriona Balfe has something to whet our appetites. The series star recently posted some “dirty” throwback photos of on-screen partner Sam Heughan on social media, sending fans wild with her caption.

Featuring the actor stained with blood and looking almost unrecognizable, Balfe said: “Dirty, dirty boy!!! @Samheughan @More4Tweets.” The picture, according to HOF Mag, was taken back in 2014 during the filming of the first series of the time travel drama Of course, Twitter fans were quick to share the throwback post which now has over 7,000 likes and a thousand shares.

Sam, in response, got in on the act and retweeted the nostalgic photo.

What To Expect From Outlander Season 3

Outlander Season 3 has just wrapped up production in South Africa last month. There aren’t many details about the new episodes, but book scribe Diana Gabaldon has confirmed that it will follow the events of the third book, Voyager, a lot closer than Season 2 did of the second book. All the major events from the novel will also happen in the show, although executive producer Ron Moore shared they will reorganize them a bit.

As reported earlier, Voyager has a clean narrative as opposed to the second book –which Moore says was very complicated –hence, the changes. Moore teased they have structured the season, allowing viewers to experience both Jamie and Claire’s lives in those 20 years apart at the same time.

Picking off where Season 2 left off, Outlander’s third run features a pregnant Claire’s return to her life in 1948. Heughan, in a past Twitter post, called the season “the best one yet.” It also serves as the last stint for the writer and co-executive producer Anne Kenney who announced her exit last week.

Outlander Season 3 debuts on Starz this fall.
