Deep Silver, the publisher for titles like Dead Island and Saints Row 4, is planning a ?major announcement? for this year?s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It seems like the publisher will be unveiling a ton of new games for this year?s gaming event, which might include Saints Row 5 for current-gen consoles.
The ?major announcement? was teased during an interview with MCV and Deep Silver CEO Klemens Kundratitz. Since Kundratitz mentioned it multiple games, it looks like fans will be in for a very interesting lineup of titles.
While the company is focused on the new Homefront game which will be released this year, there?s a big possibility that Deep Silver will unveil a new game in the Saints Row series. The open-world franchise has grown in popularity as of late and has proven to be the perfect alternative to Grand Theft Auto, with a tone that doesn?t take itself too seriously and ridiculous goals that include spraying feces on people?s houses.
More importantly, Saints Row 4 was one of the company?s most successful games. It had plenty of rave reviews, thanks to the addition of Crackdown-esque superpowers to the mix. It also sold well and was eventually re-released on the PS4 and Xbox One with all of its DLCs, which could be an indicator for a possible Saints Row sequel.
Considering how each installment has become crazier, it will be interesting to see how the folks in Deep Silver ramp that up in Saints Row 5. Assuming it?s actually announced, fans can expect even weirder weapons to use against enemies.
Will Saints Row 5 be announced in this year?s E3? Considering that Deep Silver said there would be a lot of games lined up for the event, it seems pretty likely. Fans in the mood for some mayhem can get Saints Row 4 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
