It?s official. The latest Running Man News is that it will air only until February 2017. The South Korean reality show has been facing controversy since talks of its two cast members?leaving the show surfaced.
On December 16, the production crew and the main actors held a meeting regarding the future of the show. It all started when the Running Man management decided to reformat the show on its new season. With the reformat, it seems that Song Ji-hyo and Kim Jong-kook were all of a sudden dropped from the cast. With the 2 original members being dropped out, the show was in talks with Kang Ho Dong to get on board the new season.
Seeing the big controversy that already surrounds the 6-year running variety show, Ho Dong?s management decided not to let him sign with the new season. Ho Dong felt uncomfortable with the way the Running Man management handled their 2 main cast?s parting from the new season.
Initially, people thought that leaving the show was based on Jong Kook and Ji Hyo?s voluntary resignation. However, an exclusive report from Ilgan Sports stated that there was actually no mutual discussion about the two leaving Running Man.
Furthermore, Running Man news circulated that Jong Kook was ?informed? that he would be leaving the show on December 12. Meanwhile, Ji Hyo?s agency is actively speaking to the media about the controversy. According to her agency, she and Running Man have parted on good terms. Moreover, they stated that Ji Hyo has a career as an actress, and she herself had considered leaving the reality show.
