Available in solo-player, cooperative, and multi-player, 7 Days to Die (7D2D) is one of the most ambitious and most aggressive zombie game created. It merges the voxel-based sandbox of Minecraft with the open-world zombie horror of DayZ or State of Decay, the fort-defense of Iron Brigade, and the RPG elements of Borderlands.
The game gives every player not only an opportunity to explore a voxel world with different kinds of environments such as wastelands, forests, snowy mountains, and many others, but also the chance to earn XP and upgrade their skills to become the ultimate Bruiser, Gun Nut, Gadget Man, Chemist, or Stealth Agent. Players can also build their own worlds and play them with their peers.
But the best feature of the game is its unique story, which tests the players capacity to survive through the characters they choose. The game sets off the players into a randomly generated world. The objective of being in that world is survival, particularly to survive the night (as the game has a day and night cycle). The enemies in the said world are animals that turn into zombies at night; they are fast and more violent at nighttime. As the days go by, the enemies become more aggressive. They climb, dig, and destroy buildings to get to the player and kill them.
As their support, the game also allows players to craft, destroy, and manipulate objects. It also has a building feature that let players build a structure for support system. Another pro-player feature of the game is that the character can feed on food and water to help them survive. The game also features stealth and distraction system to avoid unnecessary conflict with the zombies.
When the Alpha 1.0 of 7 Days to Die was first released in August 2013, it had some bugs that were tried to be fixed by the next four Alphas that were released by the game?s producer, The Fun Pimps. However, Alpha 5.0, the last release, had just few updates for bug fixes.
Rumors say that Alpha 6.0 of 7 Days to Die will soon be released. That is good news for the New Year. It means more fun features: more enemies, weapons, characters, support system, effects, soundtrack, and of course, an expanded story. Game lovers can?t wait that release. They also hope that this would be the cure for the flaws of the first five Alphas.
