Royal Jordanian Airlines delivered the perfect burn while capitalizing on the potential outcome of the US Presidential election. The Jordanian flag carrier put out an ad on Election Day that said, ?Just in case he wins? Travel to the US, while you?re still allowed to.?
Meant to take a swipe at then Republican candidate Donald Trump, the ad which was shared on Twitter last Tuesday has since been retweeted 4.5k times.
Trump is known for his slogan ?Make America Great Again,? which actually meant barring Muslims from entering the US. He?s also calling for ?extreme vetting? of immigrants to prove that they don?t sympathize with terrorist groups.
He has later on modified his anti Muslim stance to only apply to immigrants who come from ?terror states.? Trump also said that he would not admit refugees without ?community support.?
Extreme immigrant-screening test
According to Business Insider, in another foreign-policy speech, Trump had called for an extreme immigrant-screening test to prevent terrorism in the US.
?A Trump administration will establish a clear principle that will govern all decisions pertaining to immigration,? he said. ?And we will be tough. And we will be, even, extreme. We should only admit into this country those who share our values and respect our people.?
Trump further stated the terrorist attacks done in the US?9/11, the Fort Hood shooting, the Boston bombing, the San Bernardino attack, the Orlando attack?all involved immigrants or the children of immigrants. He said that clearly new screening procedures are needed.
Outgoing President Barack Obama has plans of accepting 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016, and this was backed by Trump opponent, Hillary Clinton. She has praised Obama for the move and has even said that America could do more.
The Royal Jordanian airline ad just might have summed up the future of America under a Trump administration. The airline is the official flag carrier of Jordan, a predominantly Muslim country.
