The series of nude leaks that frazzled celebrities recently may come to an end soon. Rose McGowan, believed to be the latest victim of the so-called “Fappening 2.0,” is making sure that the hackers responsible for the circulation of her nude photos and sex tape online will receive proper punishment. McGowan won’t go easy on her perpetrators. The latest Fappening update reveals she is now seeking big-time legal intervention.
According to Gossip Cop, the Charmed alum wants the Department of Justice involved in the investigation of the photo leak. She also tweeted out a message for the culprits early Sunday morning. Attaching a red-tinged photo of her face partially hidden by a chained mask, McGowan wrote: “Hey little hacker boys, Mama is coming and she hits hard.”

She assumes in the tweet that the hackers are all male, but it’s worthy to note that this may not necessarily be true. Regardless, she’s determined to chase after those who violated her privacy.
“I’m going to go to the Department of Justice,” she told the outlet in an exclusive interview.
McGowan, 43, is the latest victim of the 2017 nude leak which many call “Fappening 2.0.” The moniker comes from the 2014 incident of the same name which saw hundreds of private photos of more than a dozen celebrities uploaded in the web. These celebrities include Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, and Kate Upton, among others.
This year, several high-profile figures also fell victim to a photo scam that is almost of the same caliber as the previous one. Before McGowan, explicit photos of Amanda Seyfried, Emma Watson, and Analeigh Tipton made rounds on several websites last week. Dylan Penn and Katie Cassidy joined the trio shortly after.
Seyfried threatened to sue one of the sites that posted her stolen pictures. Watson, on the other hand, denied that the leaked photos were nudes. She launched a legal action of her own nonetheless.
Meanwhile, Tipton’s counsel admitted that the photos in question “were obtained illegally and are a tremendous invasion of her privacy. Per Huffington Post, the Crazy, Stupid, Love star is cooperating with authorities in an effort to locate the people responsible in the hopes that this never happens to her or anyone else again.”
It remains to be determined whether or not the 2017 photo leak is related to the 2014 one. However, it’s worth noting that the perpetrator of the original Fappening, Ryan Collins, was already arrested for the scheme. Last year, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, although another man was also punished in the scandal: Edward Majerczyk of Chicago who received only nine months.
