Crystal Dynamics? reboot of the Tomb Raider was met with critical acclaim as the game featured a new take on the series by making it more about survival rather than head-to-head combat. The sequel for Tomb Raider launched last year for the Xbox One and last January for the PC. The PS4 version is still nowhere to be found, so when will Square Enix release the Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 version?
Rumors suggest that Rise of the Tomb Raider for the PS4 has been cancelled already, thanks to Square Enix?s silence regarding the game. However, neither Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that the PS4 version has been cancelled.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed Xbox One exclusive, meaning that the game will launch on other consoles eventually. It launched on Nov. 10 for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 and Jan. 28 for the PC. And slowly but surely, the PS4 version is inching up on us.
Fans expected Sony to finally unveil a PS4 release date for the game at E3 2016, but sadly, Lara Croft was nowhere to be found. The game is expected to arrive late 2016, but no concrete date has been set yet. Amazon is still accepting orders for the game, and the release date on the digital retailer says that it?ll be on Dec. 30 this year, but it?s very likely that it?s just a placeholder date.
There are still several gaming events wherein Square Enix could reveal the release date for the Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 version like the Tokyo Game Show happening this September and Gamescom 2016 this August. By late into 2016, we?re guessing Square Enix is eyeing a Q4 release for the game, so a September reveal is suitable. It?s also possible that the release date will be announced on its own rather than on the big stage.
