Fans of Adult Swim?s animated sitcom Rick and Morty are super excited for the upcoming Season 3 of the show as lately, creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon teased that the show would return by the end of 2016.

With Rick and Morty Season 3 possibly returning earlier than expected, the fandom of the series is already sparking rumors regarding the upcoming plotline. While there have been many such rumors, fans are particularly speculating that the ?big secret plot? that series creators had teased in the first season will likely be revealed come Season 3.

During the first season of the show, when sci-fi geek fandom often took to Reddit to theorize about the plot after every episode, show creators ended up revealing that they had indeed intended Ricky and Morty to have an underlying secret that was never revealed to the audience.

In fact, according to Geek.com, one of the creators revealed that a fan seemingly may have stumbled upon the secret theory which was even posted on Reddit.

Since then, there are speculations as to Rick and Morty?s ?secret plot? and one of the most common theories is that Rick knows he is a fictional and cartoonish character. Rick too seems to have mentioned ?several times about his cartoonish role and his awareness of being a cartoon character is aligned to the series? theme of infinite mutli-verse.

Another interesting theory about the secret plot is that Rick is actually an older self of Morty. With Roiland voicing both the characters, the theory seems quite plausible.

Yet another secret theory that could be revealed on Rick and Morty Season 3 is that the Morty we know isn?t Rick?s original grandson. The theory states that when Rick first invented the interdimensional remote control, he accidently kills the real Morty, and later on Rick finds a dimension where Morty is alive and brought him to his present universe.

In addition, Season 3 will also unravel another mystery with regards to the truth about Rick?s wife and Morty?s grandmother, according to Movie.News.Guide. Though in the first season, Rick told Morty that his grandmother had passed away, Season 2 saw Beth revealing that Rick left Mrs. Sanchez for unknown reasons.

Also, Rick and Morty comic artist Giahna Pantano recently gave clues as to what can be expected in Season 3. The artist drew a T-shirt design revealing a triumphant Sanchez family with Rick in control. Also, the image shows Mr. Poopybutthole and villain Tammy; and Rick seems to be victorious over them.

Rick And Morty Season 3 premieres sometime in late 2016.
